Dr. Danya Vears

Dr. Danya Vears is a Senior Research Fellow and Team Leader at the Biomedical Ethics Research Group, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia.

Danya is a social scientist with a genetic counselling background who uses both empirical and theoretical methodologies to explore the practical, social and ethical issues relating to the use of genomics in both clinical and research settings.

Danya holds honorary positions at the University of Melbourne, and as a Guest Professor at the Centre for Biomedical Ethics and Law, KU Leuven in Belgium, where she did her first postdoctoral fellowship. She is the new co-chair of the Education, Ethics and Social Issues Committee of the Human Genetic Society of Australasia and an active member of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health.
