Edward Dove

Edward (Ted) Dove is Professor of Law at Maynooth University (Ireland) and an Honorary Professor at Edinburgh Law School (UK). Ted’s primary research interests are in the areas of health privacy law, research ethics governance, and health research regulation. Among other works, he is author of the open access monograph, Regulatory Stewardship of Health Research: Navigating Participant Protection and Research Promotion (Edward Elgar, 2020) and co-author of one of the leading medical law textbooks in the UK, Mason and McCall Smith’s Law and Medical Ethics (12th edn, Oxford University Press, 2023). He is also editor of a forthcoming volume entitled Confidentiality, Privacy, and Data Protection in Biomedicine: International Concepts and Issues (Routledge, 2024). Ted is a member of the National Data Guardian’s Panel in the UK. He is co-Editor-in-Chief of the open access journal Research Ethics.
