Prof Seamas Miller

Professor Seumas Miller is a philosopher who researches in philosophy of social action, criminal justice ethics, business ethics and cybersecurity ethics. He is a Distinguished Research Fellow at Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics at Oxford University. He has authored over 250 academic articles and 22 books, including Moral Foundations of Social Institutions (Cambridge University Press, 2010), Shooting to Kill: The Ethics of Police and Military Use of Lethal Force (Oxford University Press, 2016), Institutional Corruption (Cambridge University Press, 2017) and Ethics of Cybersecurity (with Terry Bossomaier) (Oxford University Press, 2022). He was Head of School of Humanities and Social Sciences (1994-1999), Foundation Director (2000-2007) of the ARC Special Research Centre in Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics hosted by CSU, and the Principal Investigator on a European Research Council Advanced Grant on counter-terrorism ethics (2016-2021).
